17 years ago today, I was a freshman in college – turning 19 years old.
I was much skinnier, and crazier too (believe it or not!!).
Oh. My. Lands. Look at those bangs!!! LOL
That’s me and my first ever roommate – Amanda Fritz.
What you don’t see in those photos is the fact that I had just returned from Christmas break and found out my mom and dad WERE HAVING A BABY!!!
Y’all. I about died.
Amanda and I had already figured out in our late night discussions in our college dorm room that obviously my parents didn’t do that anymore….gross.
Needless to say, we were TOTALLY wrong on that topic.
That summer, our family got JOY!
And everyone thought she was my daughter!! Still happens today, actually. We just nod and keep smiling 🙂
Now she’s almost 17 years old and becoming more like a sister everyday – it’s weird, she didn’t feel like a sister for a long time because hello – 19 years difference!!
I’ve begged her to take over the blog over and over.
Tonight, she finally agreed.
Take it away, Joy!!
To my sister on her 36th birthday,
As I continue to grow older, I will always look up to you. You are my role model.
Oh. Yes. I want to be just like this when I grow up 😉
But seriously. You inspire me every single day to make good decisions, and think about who I am and how I can always better myself and my relationship with God. When I watch you with your kids, or Brian, or directing the choir, or hosting an event, I wonder if I will grow up to be like you. Will I become a leader in my community? Will I become an AMAZING mother and wife? Will I become someone with determination no matter the circumstances? I sure hope I do.
I truly don’t know what I would do without our late night trips to Target, or the car rides with the music blasting and the sunroof down (Chloe…Brian…y’all know what music I’m talking about HAHA)! I don’t know what I would do without our talks about life, the future, your great advice (well…most of the time), and all the crazy stories about anything and everything.
Thank you, Starr. Thank you for your inspiration. Thank you for your continuous love towards me and our family. But most of all, thank you for helping guide me through my walk with God.
With all my love,
Now, here are some of my favorite pictures of us because what is a blog post without pictures?!?
