Last year, I heard about the elephants with the circus. And that because of animal rights groups and the targeted protests, the circus owners were completely removing the elephants from the show.
Gosh, those were some of the coolest parts of being at the circus. And I remember every year seeing them on the local news as they marched from the train to the arena – and how people would gather in the streets to see the parade of the elephants!
But – have you heard what was announced just a few weeks ago??
The circus is now ending. Forever.
Wow. Like – this is the very last season of the circus. Ringling Brothers announced that the last show would happen in May of 2017.
I remember going to the circus as a little girl. I also remember getting one of those blue light up toys and I seriously kept that thing FOREVER. I may still have it. Who knows.
Our kids have never been to the circus. Ever.
So, tonight for #funfriday that changes!!
They have no clue where we are headed – and I absolutely love that fact 🙂
By the way, Snapchat filters are funny!
We finally arrived and for the first time ever, we got here before the doors even opened!
Insider tip: we got the cheap nosebleed tickets and we’re literally sitting 4 rows from the top of the arena! Ha!
Yep, that’s the wall of the arena behind us. Good thing we brought our binoculars!
Some of our favorite moments of the night:
the lions and tigers (my personal absolute favorite)
I could have watched those animals all night. It was incredible!
Brian loved these bikes inside the cage. There are 8 bikes rolling around in there at the same time!!
And goodness there was so much more!
It actually appeared to be a sold out crowd tonight. This photo was taken about 30 minutes before the main event began. If you come early, go ahead to your seats, they have interesting information and animals they bring out. Super cool!
Part of the ring floor is an ice skating rink and it was so fun to watch!
This adventure was well worth the $20 for 2 hours. They’ll be here in Charlotte through the weekend and several shows across the nation before they have a final curtain call in May.
I still can’t believe there won’t be another Ringling Brothers Circus – part of my childhood was relived tonight. Thanks for the beautiful memories in Charlotte, Ringling Brothers!
