This looks good for our family. I mean, don’t y’all remember this???
We actually have assigned laundry baskets now and we do a PRETTY good job of using them, most days.
My mother in law built cabinets for us when we first moved into our home for the laundry room. She’s amazing and can build ANYTHING!! She even built our baby furniture!!
But, they aren’t as organized as the rest of the room – to say the least.
Those cleaning rags are a mountain avalanche that’s about to fall, held only by the toilet cleaner. Nothing is organized. Items are just on the shelves wherever they will fit without falling out. True story.
I have no clue what’s in that green and white basket. Stuff just gets put in there.
We never use the iron, bet you couldn’t figure that out!!
That box has items that were packed up when Brian and I moved – OVER 10 YEARS AGO!!! And they’ve never been unpacked. That box has held up well, I do say.
We pulled EVERYTHING out.
I didn’t even realize that we had extra shelves that weren’t inserted!! We could have had more storage for 10+ years!!!!
Even the little holders were sitting in the corners of the cabinets to hold the extra shelves up. Brian came to help put them in place.
Here are all the items that have been sitting since we moved in…terrible. Anyone need any Pantene Pro V conditioner? How about some Pinesol that’s decomposing?? Or maybe some Comet that’s leaking out of the exploded bottle??? No??? You’re good??
Most of that went to the trash.
In fact, we got an entire bin full of trash and recyclables that had been taking up all our storage space. That’s just dumb.
And don’t get me started on Clorox. 10 years ago, Brian and I decided to buy an entire CASE of Clorox from Sam’s Club. Don’t even ask me why. We never use Clorox. But, by goodness – we’ve got it if we ever need it!!
The case included 3 gallons. I thought we only had 2 left. But, I was fooled. I found the 3rd one sitting in the floor!!!!! Anyone need to borrow some Clorox?? I’m your girl.
And you’ll never believe what else I found in the laundry room cabinets.
Yes, that’s a recipe hand written by Glennie the Great. My favorite – Blueberry Salad.
Oh, and there’s more on the back.
I JUST texted my dad the other day trying to figure out how to make fried okra. Well, Glennie the Great – you never fail. You wrote it right here for me!!!!
Finally it was time to get all the items we were keeping put back up on the shelves.
I realized we have entirely too many cleaning rags. This is what happens to rags and towels in our house that get stained or torn. Obviously, the collection has grown over the last 10 years. Some of these need to G O.
And look – there’s even extra room on those shelves!!
All of the laundry supplies now have their own home – in the same place!
I don’t use the gallons of detergent anymore, but there’s some left and I’m hoarding it in case I run out and the store doesn’t have any detergent for me to buy.
All the cleaning supplies are all together now as well!
Brian is still in shock. We’ve never done this. Woah. Watch out world. Our laundry room is coming for you!!
Have an area of your home that has been neglected for too long? Just do it. Set aside an hour and remove everything from the cabinets. Trash out and organize what’s left. You’ll feel sooo amazing. I promise.
