As part of yesterday’s living room makeover, we decided it would be a great time to gather all of our children’s DVDs from around the house and the car to sort them.
My sister actually said, “We should count these for your blog!!”
Ahh, my family knows me so well!
The first part of the job was to find the matches for the cases and such. Anyone else have that problem of random DVDs getting put in whatever case is nearby?? Totally my fault. Yep.
When we finally got them all gathered and organized, the grand total came to 102!
Woah. I had no idea there were that many. That’s tooo many!!
I came home this afternoon and started arranging and sorting them to do a little purge when the girls got home.
Brock wanted to help.
His idea of helping was not working!!
The girls sat down with me and after going through all of them, they only wanted to get rid of 23 – and that was some that they wanted to keep, but I convinced them otherwise!!
They headed up to take baths and I told Brian that I had in mind to get rid of a LOT MORE than 23. Ugh.
So, he suggested I just add some more to the donate pile.
That, I did. Shhhh, don’t tell our kids.
I ended up with 34 great movies to send to Kylie’s preschool.
And here’s the stack of keepers.
All these cases don’t make sense to me. I mean, WHYYY???
I told Brian we just needed to throw them out. And for once in my lifetime he disagreed with me throwing something out and said maybe we should keep them. I agreed to keep them stored in the attic or garage, but I was tired of cases everywhere and them all getting mixed up and never being right.
Instead, all of our movies are now in these 2 cases.
Indeed, my 1990s CD case holders from my first car came in super handy!!! I had a few laughs taking out all of my old CD collection from high school and college. Really. Goood laughs, y’all.
This is a fantastic way for us to be more organized and have more room in our house! Double-win!!
Gather every DVD from around your house into one location. You’ll probably be surprised how many you have! Sort through them and keep only the ones that you love. With so many streaming options, DVDs are becoming less and less necessary. To save additional space, store the boxes in the attic or garage and keep your DVDs in consolidated binders to easily have them when you need them – for travel or home.
