My name is Starr and I am a procrastinator.
>>SHOCKING<<< I know.
Do you ever feel like that – like not doing anything at all? Or is it just me??
You have a million things on the to-do list and instead you just sit in a chair. And think. And look at your smart phone. And maybe check your email. And maybe look at social media.
Oh, and then there’s the time you decide to organize and clean when you have a major deadline on a project!! Nope?? Just me??? Hah!!
This happened to me on Monday. It was a holiday and the entire family was home. We had nothing on the agenda and I planned to get a lot accomplished. But, I froze.
Brian was trying his best to motivate me, but I was just in one of those moods where I didn’t feel like doing ANYTHING AT ALL.
And the more he suggested that I do, the more I wanted to sit. I’ll show him, lol.
Yes, we all need rest at times. But sometimes – we just need to DO THAT THING WE NEED TO DO!
I came across this article on Ann Voskamp’s blog and I simply had to read immediately:
I changed my perspective on things I’ve been putting off. And God has been sending me other clues about this topic all week long. I think I need to pay attention.
I want to honor God by doing the things He has put in my path.
Need to beat procrastination? Remember this:
The pattern in everything is this: the greater joys are obtained through struggle and difficulty and pain—things you must force yourself to do when you don’t feel like it —while brief, unsatisfying, and often destructive joys are as inviting as couch cushions. – Jon Bloom
