the daily Starr share it saturday

We’re having our annual New Year’s Eve gathering with friends from church tonight!

I was completely inspired earlier today when I saw this photo on Instagram:

I absolutely love this idea of balloons for every hour with a fun activity surprise reveal inside.

With 5 hours until midnight and all ages to entertain, it can be a LONG night. Doing something new every hour helps to break up the boredom and keeps everyone happy.

You don’t have to have an elaborate plan – you can even make it up as you go – like me!! hahah

So, we started at 8pm with our first balloon pop – and it was then Karaoke Hour! We just hooked up the microphones to a speaker and searched Youtube songs on the TV for a song anyone wanted. And the one overachiever brought his guitar!

Currently, we’re on the 9’o clock hour surprise – Pictionary – guys vs girls.

As friends arrived earlier, we had board games on all the tables to get the party started. The Connect Four tournaments have been intense.

The 10 o’clock hour is coming soon, so I gotta figure out what is next.

Here is a list of ideas you could use for any party or gathering you have – an hour at a time:

Board Games
Pictionary
Karaoke
Catch Phrase (we love this fun game!)
Charades
Pass the brown bag – tape up random items from your house inside brown paper bags and have people try to guess what the items are. Be sure to number your bags and give everyone a piece of paper to make their guess list.
Trivia – use the internet to figure out topics and questions
Family Feud – again, use the internet to search questions to use
Bingo – dollar store prizes work great
The Newlywed Game – great if you have couples
Hangman – or Wheel of Fortune
The Price is Right – use random items from your house and guess the values
1 Real Fact/1 Made up Fact – have everyone write a fact and a made up fact on a sheet of paper. Collect all the pieces of papers and have everyone guess who is who.
1 Thing You Don’t Know – similar to the game above, everyone writes down 1 thing no one knows about them and you try to guess who is who.
Spoons – a fantastic card game, google it if you don’t know how to play
Minute to Win It – search game ideas online to have mini competitions

Here’s wishing you and your family a beautiful New Year. May 2017 be full of unexpected miracles, big and small – and may God be closer than He’s ever been.
