There’s a quote from Jim Rohn I heard several years ago that’s been on my mind lately:
Let’s pause and think about that for a moment.
Who are the 5 people you spend the most time with??
[I’ll wait here while you get them in your head.]
The law of averages basically says you’ll be the average of those people.
Are you happy with that?
The point of the quote is to realize you choose who those people are. I want to be intentional with who I’m spending the most time with.
I want some of those people to be SOOOOO FREAKIN’ AMAZING – because really – I need some of their amazingness to rub off on me.
And as for the others, I want to be able to influence them in a positive way to be one of their amazing people that cheers them on to grow and become a better person.
I’ve actually been praying this week – Lord, send me both.
Send me people to help me grow.
Send me people to influence and encourage.
Do you remember the older lady from the movie War Room, Ms. Clara?
We see that Ms. Clara has specifically prayed for God to send someone into her life that she could help mentor and lead closer to the Lord.
And in the end, she told Elizabeth that it was her turn to do the same!
I want that. I want to do my part.
There are so many that have poured godly wisdom into my life and I want God to send me those that I am to do the same.
How about you?
Have you thought about your 5 people? Who can help you grow? Who can you encourage? Don’t have the right mix??
Oh friends – it’s time to be intentional about who we spend the most time with!
