Today’s word comes from the Proverbs a day I’ve been reading.
Today is Dec 14th, so I read Proverbs Chapter 14.
The very 1st verse stopped me in my tracks.
The wisest of women builds her house, but FOLLY with her own hands tears it down.
Let’s look at what that word FOLLY means:
Foolishness, y’all.
That’s what I feel like most days. I have this house and family I’ve been responsible to build. And I have had wisdom in building what I know – on a foundation that is solid.
But something can happen to even the wisest of women.
She can become foolish with her own hands and tear down what she knows is right and wise.
That happens to me.
I stuff and hoard and blame and justify. I make excuses. I waste time and I don’t always do the things I know that will bring good to my family and my home.
And honestly, last night I felt as though for the first time in my life I might possibly be losing my mind. Goodness, getting old is hard.
I couldn’t find my keys.
I can’t find something from a box I opened a week ago.
Part of the problem is all the STUFF I’ve allowed to cloud my mind and our home. It’s been a whirlwind of a few weeks and I can’t honestly remember what I ate for breakfast this morning – much less where I put something 2 weeks ago.
I’m learning.
I’m learning tough lessons during these seasons of God showing truth through my weaknesses. It’s a long journey though, friends.
Be encouraged tonight. If you too have experience tearing down what you built with your own foolish hands, you’re in good company.
God is a God who redeems and who sets free. I’m trusting fully in Him tonight to do that – even in the midst of the messes I create.
I sat in my war room asking God to touch my mind last night. Sometimes the very thing I’m searching for isn’t what I need. I need to be at the feet of Jesus – and I think He allows those things to happen just to get me there.
What 1 word can you take tonight to the Father? What do you need help overcoming? He is faithful to hear our prayers and to give us our heart’s desire. He is a good, good Father.
