Today’s #makeovermonday project doesn’t include any furniture, but it does include replacing something our family has never really gotten into:
Don’t worry. All of you that LOVE your elf on the shelf – go right ahead and enjoy yourself, by all means!
Yes, I bought into the craze several years ago and I had great intentions, but goodness. The elf just looks weird. And my heart was never into it…so I would forget to hide the little elf. And our kids wouldn’t even remember it either, lol.
I finally added our elf and box and book to the “yard sale” pile in the garage last week. Wooop woooop!! (Brian is all PRAISE HANDS!!!)
THEN – I came across this AHHHMAZING thing that I have all the love in my heart for this Christmas:
The Shepherd on The Search!!
Y’alllllll – he’s on the search to find CHRIST in Christmas!!
I can’t even be more excited about doing this with our kiddos. (all the PRAISE HANDS FROM ME now!!)
There’s a cute little shepherd (not weird looking at all), a story book, and the box stands up to make a nativity you can use at the end to find JESUS!
You don’t even have to be creative and come up with what to do each day. There is a website FULL of ideas for you to do each night with your family – called Daily ADVENTures:
Each day features easy recipes for FUN!
All of these recipes for fun are free to download and print – so you could do this even if you don’t have the official shepherd. Use anything – make a paper shepherd that your kids draw!
And don’t worry if you are just starting on Dec 12 (like our family). We’re going to do several per night to catch up as we can and end on Christmas with the shepherd finding Jesus.
I’m so in love with this idea – this would make an excellent gift if you know a family with young kids that wants to focus on the real meaning of Christmas.
I bought my book set from Dayspring.com. They retail for $29.99, but I found an online coupon code and got mine for $20 (use code holley20)!
