#slowitdownSunday / when it’s hard to say, “Thy will be done.”

the daily Starr slow it down Sunday

It’s part of the Lord’s Prayer in the book of Matthew –

“Thy will be done…”

Honestly, those words can be spoken so easily. But, living them out is an entirely different story.

When you’re walking through the valley.
When the numbers don’t add up.
When you’ve done all you can do.

When things don’t work in your favor.
When people around you disappoint and fail.
When your marriage has fallen apart.
When you question the very place you’re in and if God is still there.

All of that – hard stuff.

Then, trusting enough to say, “Thy will be done.”

Not. Easy. At. All.

God doesn’t promise things will always be easy.

God doesn’t promise we’ll always stand on the mountain tops.

However, He did promise He would never change.

The God on the mountain, is still God in the valley.

Wherever we may find ourselves – the mountain or the valley – our job is to say, “Thy will be done.”

This song has been playing on the radio lately and I love the words that remind me He’s God and I am not.

Hillary Scott & The Scott Family – Thy Will

Have you really listened to those lyrics?

I’m so confused
I know I heard you loud and clear
So, I followed through
Somehow I ended up here
I don’t wanna think
I may never understand
That my broken heart is a part of your plan
When I try to pray
All I’ve got is hurt and these four words

Thy will be done
Thy will be done
Thy will be done
I know you’re good
But this don’t feel good right now
And I know you think
Of things I could never think about
It’s hard to count it all joy
Distracted by the noise
Just trying to make sense
Of all your promises
Sometimes I gotta stop
Remember that you’re God
And I am not
So

Thy will be done

If you’re standing in the midst of a difficult season – one where a sea-change is happening, all God asks us to do is to trust Him and know that His ways are higher, deeper, wider and greater than anything we can imagine.

8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Isaiah 55:8-9

  1. I’ve been struggling lately…lets get real I’ve been asking Where are you Lord?!? I need an answer, I’ve waited long enough! I’m done waiting!! I’ve been having a temper tantrum for real!! But boy did this blog hit me where it hurts. My struggles are real, my struggles are hard and some days I feel like my struggles are worst than everyone else’s but they aren’t and God doesn’t give us more than we can handle. I know he hears me and I know he is still there when I can’t feel him!
I have to remember that he is God and I am not!!!

    • I’ve been having tantrums too lately. I may have had one in my mind tonight as a matter of fact lol. I’m prone to pout. And gripe when I don’t get my way. I’m glad we’re on this journey together. Love you, girl!
