I know you’ve seen this on Pinterest, right?
Big fat #pinterestFAIL right there!!!
I did exactly what it said to do. I bought the big fat glow sticks, cut them open and put them into my bubble container. I shook them well. We did not have fun.
There were no glow in the dark bubbles.
I tried 5 different glow sticks and even added 3 into one bottle. No glow in the dark bubbles.
At that point I was severely frustrated and had to figure out something to make this #funfriday actually happen.
Then I remembered that time at the beach when we put glow sticks inside water bottles to make a bowling game.
I had 5 glow sticks remaining and went to the cabinet to figure out what would work.
There ya go – shaker bottles, water and glow sticks.
Outside we went into the 1000 degree humidity to have FUN~~
You can’t really see anything from these photos. First we tried putting them in the grass, but our backyard kind of has a slight upward slope. That didn’t work very well.
Then, we decided to sit them on the edge of the patio table and let the girls knock them off into the yard with a rubber glow in the dark ball.
That was more fun.
For like 7 minutes. And after we lost the first glow in the dark ball into the woods.
I’d had enough of this nonsense. So, inside we came and I dumped the water out of the bottles. They took them to the playroom and played some more. It sounded like something was crashing every time they hit a bottle into the wall.
Can I be honest?
I’m dragging tonight.
I haven’t mentioned this anywhere online ’cause I didn’t want any weird internet crazies showing up at my house – but Brian has been gone on a business trip all week.
And PRAISE THE LORD he’s coming back tonight.
This mama isn’t very good at doing life alone. After this week I have a whole lot more compassion and respect for those that do. And for my husband when I’m the one that leaves…
I’m counting down the minutes until he walks through that door.
DO NOT TRY THE GLOW IN THE DARK BUBBLES.
Yeah, a waste of time.
Instead – try glow in the dark bowling, ring toss or a ton of other ideas that don’t involve cracking open glow sticks to make random items glow.
In case you missed it – from the past week on the blog:
