We have a tradition for first birthdays – a nice family dinner at home to celebrate!
When your family is HUGE, you have to keep it limited to parents, grandparents and siblings. I truly hate this because there are so many I’d love to invite, it would just end up being hundreds of people and that’s a bit overwhelming…believe me, we’ve done that a few times and whew….
For everyone we wanted to invite but couldn’t – I thought I’d share a little bit from our night with you!
Since Brock is our very own Curious George – that was our theme for dinner.
Do you see the yellow plates and cups turned upside down with black? That’s the man with the yellow hat!! Cute, right??
Instead of going with a big cake, my friend Allison made cupcakes for us!
I learned how to make these little pinwheel flower toppers earlier this summer and made them all myself. So proud, ha!
They were sooo good. Carrot cake with cream cheese and then banana with peanut butter frosting! Yummmo!
Brock was so excited, he just couldn’t stand it.
Oh, yes – the party is HERE!
Then it was time for his own cake. I picked it up at Harris Teeter and it was appropriately labeled “Chocolate Explosion Cake”!!
He had noooo trouble digging in. Why yes, he is wearing a bib that says Kylie. Oh well.
It was such a great night with our family celebrating our little boy!
Brock and Brian’s brother, Daniel.
Joy and Chloe – our summer mainstays here at the house!
Brock’s Great Grandmother – Mawmaw Carriker
Grandparents – Mawmaw Shell, Pappy Elvis and Aunt Christy
Grammie – Papa Kelly was super sick tonight. We missed him so!!
Big sisters are the best!
Wrapping it up on this #shareitsaturday with our crazy Haigler clan.
Happy Saturday, friends.
Do birthdays different – keep it simple and have dinner at home with a close small group. You’ll be more comfortable and everyone can relax and enjoy. We love birthday dinners at home in our family – yay!
In case you missed it – from the past week on the blog:
