A few weeks ago I sat in a writing conference listening to Lysa TerKeurst tell stories about feeling unloved and uninvited. She poured her heart out in sharing the background of her new book – Uninvited.
We’ve all been there. Right?
I remember my senior year of high school. All my friends started planning our senior trip to the beach after graduation. We’d been looking forward to this big trip for years – our first time away, on our own – adults (HA< not really!). Let’s stop right there. How on earth could our parents allow this??? WOW.
I don’t remember all of the dramatic details, but somehow my group of closest girlfriends decided to turn our beach trip into a time to invite all their boyfriends to stay at the beach house for the week. And before I knew it, somehow I became…uninvited.
I didn’t have a serious boyfriend at the time. And I knew my parents would KILLLLL me if I’d gone along with this plan.
It was time to find a new group of friends and probably a good idea to do a beach trip with someone else.
Still, those feelings of not being included…they hurt. They hurt bad, y’all.
Those scars were visible for years and some of my closest friends drifted away for a season through that entire ordeal. Looking back, God was absolutely protecting me through it all. He had a plan, indeed.
Can you relate, friends?
This is the basis for Lysa’s new book, Uninvited.
The subtitle is this: Living Loved When You Feel Less Than, Left Out, and Lonely.
Oh my goodness. Yes.
I’ve been part of a group over the past few weeks to spread the word about the book. Each week they share different graphics with messages and quotes from the book. Here are a few of my favorites – feel free to copy and share them on your own social media spaces.
These two are my personal favorites and I love the way Lysa spoke about these quotes in her personal stories about the book.
That is key, friends. If we could only live remembering these truths daily: God is good. God is good to me. And God is good at being God.
Let’s all #trashouttuesday by trashing the lies of the enemy to feel less than, left out and lonely. God wants us to live loved. Amen! I’m ready to do away with feeling uninvited, once and for all.
Lastly, Lysa’s new book is marked down on sale for $11 today only – Tuesday, August 9. You can get that deal through the Proverbs 31 bookstore:
