A few months ago we started renovating this rental house I called, “Very Dark Southwind Trail”
Now, we’re all finished and ready for a new family to move in.
From very dark Southwind to bright and modern Southwind – here is our big fixer upper #2 reveal!
Let’s talk about these beautiful floors. They are laminate wood. I used to think that was not as cool as traditional hardwood. Now, I’d put these floors in my house a thousand times over hardwoods. They are cheaper, more durable and are GORGEOUS!
The wood color is Dark Walnut, 5″ by Mohawk Flooring.
Now for the kitchen. Here is the before and after together.
We painted the cabinets using Sherwin Williams Mindful Gray SW 7016.
The appliances remained the same.
Counter tops were replaced, from laminate to granite. The color is Luna Pearl (I believe, need to double check this).
The back splash is a simple white ceramic subway tile. This really helped to brighten up the space. I would highly recommend using this for a cost effective classic look that will stay in style for a long time.
The entire house walls are painted Sherwin Williams Kilim Beige SW 6106. We use this main color in almost every house that we flip or remodel. It is a neutral color that goes well with almost anything.
Here is the master bedroom.
The carpet is a short shag and the color is Doe Skin in the Twilight series by Dream Weaver Carpet. I love short shag carpets in a darker color. They hide almost ANYTHING. This is similar to what we have in our house. We’re going on 10 years and it looks almost new. If you have kids, this is the PERFECT carpet.
Remember the master bath?
We installed 2 separate vanities with tops from Lowe’s. We actually bought the floor models and got a great deal. One of the drawers is missing a knob and it’s in my purse, ha! I need to take that by there so they can install that one of these days.
And here is the secondary bathroom.
This is also a complete vanity with top set from Lowe’s for around $100. It is the BEST deal for a vanity in a high quality style. The flooring in both baths are a wide white ceramic tile. I don’t have the color, but it is from Lowe’s and I can figure that out if you need it.
Here is what the outside of Southwind Trail looks like. This was actually our very first investment property we ever purchased about 12 years ago.
Isn’t she pretty? She’s all ready for a new family. I hope they enjoy the updates as much as we’ve enjoyed doing them. Welcome home!
