There is an incredible family that lives less than 10 minutes from us. A really BIG incredible family.
Last summer our clans tried to plan a get together 3-4 different times. Every single time we planned it, some kid in the bunch fell sick! Over and over and over. We decided we needed to quit planning so our kids would quit getting sick and ended summer 2015 with no super fun Riffle-Haigler adventure.
Then I got this text that made me laugh yesterday.
Can you believe it?? We stumbled on an unlocked gate and found our friends! Family Camp Day 3 – BIG friendship at the Riffles!
Here is a selfie shot with all 13.5 of us!
Yes, you read that right. 13.5 people between 2 families. I wasn’t joking when I said BIG~
The Riffles have 6 kids with another coming in September. Add our 3 kiddos in and that’s a total of 9.5 kids!!
They had us parents outnumbered for sure, double!
I believe God had the Riffles in mind when He created friendship.
This family has poured into us more than they will ever know. We’ve been weary and tired so many times in our own seasons of family and ministry. It seems like Becca always pops into my life in those moments and it’s like God Himself breathing into our souls saying, “I love you, my child. This is what friendship is like. Enjoy!”
The love on us, cook amazing food and welcome us in with open arms.
12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.
13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
14 You are my friends if you do what I command.
15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.
Love each other as God has loved us. That’s a big challenge. A challenge that causes me to welcome others into my life. Friendships start with us – and our ability to open our homes, our ears and our hearts to minister like Jesus did.
I want to be more like our great friends in this aspect and love on others as much as possible.
I always leave time with the Riffles refreshed, inspired and oh – ready to have more kids…
Brian says we will be sick next time something is planned hahahah!
Thank you, Lord – for big friendships, big love and for being a BIG mighty God!
Encouragement for the day
