#makeovermonday / painting 12 year old patio furniture

We’ve had the same patio set since we got married. A basic black wrought iron set from Lowe’s.

I’m pretty sure we bought it with the 12 months interest free financing and we used the same cushions that came with it for at least 7 years. Because, hello – we’re cheap!!

Then, we bought new cushions that were supposed to be “fade resistent” – and well, they have faded. Badly.

The table is starting to rust.

While we were at Lowe’s earlier this week, this can of Valspar Spray Paint + Primer caught my eye!

I’d much rather do this than spend several hundred dollars on new patio furniture!!

I picked this color – Peacock Blue. It was about $5.

I started painting and I LOVE the color!

But wait, I used the ENTIRE can. On. That. One. Chair.

Yep. I thought surely I’d be able to paint the table too. Nope. I didn’t even get to finish the top of the seat of the chair before it was all gone.

So, I figured it might take about 10 cans total to finish all of our chairs and table. That’s still only $50 compared to maybe spending $700-$800 on new furniture!!

It covered the rust perfectly.

All I have for today is this beautiful chair!

I love how it turned out. Now to go get some more paint and also work on my plan to makeover those faded cushions! Stay tuned, y’all 🙂
