This morning I sat with almost 100 other moms as we started a summer Bible study journey of learning to be still.
I mean really – I don’t know why I’m even there….I’m an expert at being still. SAID STARR NEVER!!!!!
My friend Leigh is leading us on this study and it was simply fantastic! I know you all can’t be there in the room with us each week, so I thought it would be fun to give you my 2 cents here and there, okay?
Our topic for today: mommy guilt.
My biggest takeaway from today is that we ALL struggle – mamas and aunties and sisters in Christ.
Our struggles all look different.
Some struggle with laundry.
Some struggle with expectations.
Some struggle with loneliness.
Some struggle with being overwhelmed.
Some struggle with busyness.
Some struggle with sickness.
We all struggle, y’all.
And the guilt is real. Every single day.
We can feel condemnation – that’s the pointing-fingers feeling that rises up and feeds us with dread, anxiety and should-haves.
Or we can feel conviction – God pulling at our heart strings to turn closer to Him and repent of any sin in our life separating us from His love.
And all have sinned, amen?
I’m learning to not judge anyone else and their struggles.
I’m learning to let go of my own struggles and shut down the mommy guilt voices inside my head.
God’s mercies are new every single morning. And there is NOTHING that can separate me from Him and His love.
There were two videos Leigh used in today’s lesson I want to share with you.
The first is Natalie Grant singing Clean. Y’all. All I could think about was my dirty house – because that is where most of my own mommy guilt stems from. God can wash us CLEAN!!
The second video is from Lisa-Jo Baker on motherhood. It will absolutely make you smile.
Encouragement for the day
