I have seen these DIY forts on Pinterest for years.
We finally tried it!!
Today’s #funfriday is all about this bigger-than-I-thought-it-would-be fort in our living room.
Here is the pin that inspired our construction:
Don’t be fooled into thinking this project was all thought out. I had no earthly idea what to do for fun today. I’m all involved in cleaning our house for company arriving this week.
Meanwhile, I show Brian the photo above from Pinterest.
Me: “Honey, do you have any spare pieces of wood out in the garage that could make this in like the next 10 minutes??”
Brian: [blank stare]
2 minutes later, he walks in with skinny wood pieces EXACTLY like those in the photo. It was hilarious. Like he’s been waiting on me to ask to build a fort>????
First, I tried that brown blanket on top, but it was too heavy and didn’t cover the entire thing.
I got a king sheet and it fit perfectly! I took push pins and secured the sheet to the 4 corners.
We added some Christmas lights, just because.
They were super excited!
I promised them we’d leave it up a few days 😉
To make your own fort:
- 5 skinny pieces of wood, nails or screws and a king size sheet, 4 push pins to secure your sheet to the wood
- nail or screw the two pieces on the end, then lay a piece across the top to connect the ends
- note: Brian added another support piece to the bottom of one of our sides to make it more steady
- add Christmas lights running across the top, blankets and pillows on the floor to make cozy!
Now, before we leave – this is the face we get every single time Brock is done eating.
Over and over. Day after day. This face.
I loaded a video over on Facebook if you want to smile and chuckle a bit.
After spending 1.5 hour cooking cauliflower grilled cheese sandwiches last night…I deserved this Chick-fil-a salad. Yep. Sure did.
Funniest part? We have calendar cards (they only have them at Christmas and you get something free every month – thanks, mom!). Anyways – the free item this month is a salad. So Brian went to get our free salads tonight on the way home. Except, he paid for our free salads. Yep. He forgot the cards. Totally. Looks like I’ll have a salad for lunch tomorrow too! Hahaha
Encouragement for the day:
In case you missed it; this week on the blog…
