Today’s #makeovermonday project is all about making your own simple fabric banner for super cheap!
I used this fabric banner in our daughter’s owl bathroom makeover a few weeks ago.
My version above only required $11 total and about 1 hour of time.
Supplies:
2 yards of this striped fabric from Hobby Lobby ($10)
And this jute rope I picked up in the Target Dollar Section ($1)
First I doubled over the 2 yards of fabric and started cutting along the striped patterns.
I cut the entire piece, stripe by stripe.
I folded the ones at the top over again because my arms got tired – HA! Then, I realized I could have doubled the entire fabric again and saved myself a LOT of cutting π
I made sure to keep the fabric laying in the pattern so it would be easy to start tying to my rope later.
I made one cut on the end of the single doubled fabric.
This is what one piece looks like after being cut completely.
I made a simple loop while attaching the fabric to the jute rope.
I continued the same pattern and kept looping around the rope.
And there you have it!
You could do these fabric banners with ANY type of fabric – including scraps!
They are great for parties, room decor, whatever you like.
One of my friends had these cute banners on her twin daughter’s highchairs for their birthday. These are about half of the length of my banner and would be super easy to make!
Go and make fabric banners, friends!
