#thirstythursday / what I learned in New Orleans

She looked pretty normal – kind of like me.

She came out onto the stage in front of 15,000 people with confidence, yet such a humble spirit.

She told her story about how she simply went abroad to Asia at 23 years old to study and learn a different language.

What happened….she never saw coming.

A woman trapped in slavery needed help.

What could she do? She had no idea. She couldn’t NOT help.

And in that moment Red Oak Ministries was born.

I sat in the closing ceremony of our annual real estate conference – the Inspirational Breakfast – with tears flowing down my face. I was amazed at how her story was living proof we serve a God who can plop us right into the midst of our purpose – something we don’t even see coming! Yet – He can use us in amazing ways to change lives, to give freedom and hope – through Christ.

Her story stirred something inside me.

I sat and thought, “God – do that for me! Put me EXACTLY where You want me to be – doing EXACTLY what you’ve called me to do. Help me change the world and build Your Kingdom. No matter what I have planned, Lord show up in crazy unexpected ways in my life!”

I don’t want my life to be wasted.

God doesn’t pick special skillful people, He picks willing vessels.

I’m willing, Lord. Here I am. Use me.

I trust You, Lord – and I know You have a plan, even if it seems delayed. You gave me this verse long ago and Your Word promises me the vision will happen.
