#thirstythursday / do you still love me?

thirsty thursday banner the daily Starr

Earlier this week I read a devotional from Proverbs 31 Ministries written by Wendy Pope.

The email sat in my inbox early Wednesday morning with the subject line – “When Nothing’s Going Right”

The title sounded just like my previous day and I could totally relate to nothing going right. Anybody else??? Yep.

Wendy talked about how she was struggling with her small children and long story short – her toddler ended up drawing with a purple marker all over the carpet – NOT with washable markers!!

It was after Wendy got super upset and lost her own temper that her daughter came up and asked, “Do you still love me?”

I’ve been there as a mom.

Kylie has been in trouble before and asked the same question.

And I LOVE how Wendy responded:

Her question caused me to reflect on the magnitude of God’s enduring love. I was able to respond to her the same way my heavenly Father responds to me, “There is nothing you can do that would make me stop loving you. I will always love you.”

Have you ever thought about the magnitude of God’s enduring love? 1 Chronicles 16:34 records this amazing truth: “Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! His faithful love endures forever.”

YES!!!!

There is NOTHING, friends – N O T H I N G – Absolutely NOTHING – that can separate us from the love of God.

I was reminded immediately of these words from the book of Romans, Chapter 8 (35-39):

35 Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? 36 (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”[a]) 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[b] neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Whatever you’re facing tonight, remember that God’s love is stronger.

Remember that He still loves you. No matter what.

Remember that your past is just that – your past.

Walk ahead in the love of Jesus – serve Him with all your heart – and live in the freedom of knowing TRUE love, a love that only He can give.

I’m adding these verses to my war room wall!
