#1wordwednesday / GIVEAWAY day is back!!

Remember last October when I started 31 Days of Giveaways and then….

I got admitted to the hospital and almost died??? Yeah.

So life goes!!

I didn’t finish out the 31 days of giveaways and promised to make it up.

Starting today, #1wordwednesday takes on a new spin!

I’ll continue focusing on different aspects of our #Lessin2016 plan, but I’ll also include a giveaway in each week’s post. Yayyyy for giveaways!

This month’s focus is on LESS frustration and yelling at our kids.

One of the most frustrating things for me is when Brock is restless and unsettled and I can’t get him to calm down. I know he’s not hungry…well, hopefully Mr. Chunky isn’t hungry…

And I know he’s got a dry diaper. In most instances he’s just tired and fighting sleep because come on, our house is ALWAYS an entertaining adventure and who wouldn’t be afraid of missing something while sleeping??? 🙂

I’ve resided to holding him tight in my arms and walking the floors swaying him against my face. I have to admit, I love these moments. In the midst of my frustration, God sends sweet peace and a needed reminder to me that these restless nights won’t last long.

Sometimes I hum whatever song happens to be floating in my head – because a song is always floating around in my head.

Lately it’s been this worship chorus.

I love you, Lord
And I lift my voice
To worship You
Oh my soul rejoice
Take joy my King
In what You hear
Let it be a sweet sweet sound
In Your ear

This song helps me calm down in the midst of frustration. I’m grounded in remembering that my words can be a sweet sweet sound in my King’s ear.

Or not.

My words can be harsh and hurtful.

My words can be stern and hateful.

The choice is mine.

Yes – I want my King to take joy in what He hears coming from my lips.

Less harsh, more praise.

This song has been a stream in the desert for me in recent weeks and I’d love to share it with you as a reminder to have more sweet sounds.

Here is a free downloadable graphic I created for your desk, wall, etc.

  1. I love that song and I will sing it to my grandson.
“May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. ”
This is a constant battle for me. I believe it is a heart issue. Cleanse my heart Lord.

  2. Treasure these moments, they pass too quickly. Joy will be leaving for college in a little over two years. Except for the one year between you leaving for college and her birth, that will be 36 plus years with children under our roof. It’s going to be too quiet. I’ll have to walk over and visit the grandchildren for some noise!
