#thirstythursday / I’m going to stop trying to be someone else

thirsty thursday banner the daily Starr

I’m tired of trying.

Trying to be someone I’m not.
Trying to be organized.
Trying to be neat and orderly.
Trying to fit into a box.
Trying to make others happy.
Trying to be successful.
Trying to juggle it all.

I read a devotional earlier this week from Proverbs 31 Ministries that has stuck out in my mind: Be Who God Created You to Be.

I can honestly tell you that I don’t remember that verse in the Bible from the book of Job: “He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth,’ and to the rain shower, ‘Be a mighty downpour.'”

But, oh friends. How those words have played over and over in my mind this week.

Yes, Starr – stop spinning your wheels and trying so hard to be what God has not created you to be. You know those things that God has created you for – GO DO THEM!

This scripture felt like God was giving me permission to stop the madness in my life.

And it couldn’t have come at a better time than right now.

This one is absolutely going on my War Room Wall.

  1. Love this!!! We all have good qualities just different from each other but that is a good thing! It takes all kinds to make life interesting, how boring if we all were alike. So my friend I am right there with you, unorganized at work & at home!! Love you just as you are! Traaacaay

    1. Traaaaacaaaay!! I love you, friend. And you are so right. What a boring life if we all were alike. We’re such good crop buddies because we are both unorganized messes and we don’t care 🙂 can’t wait to see you soon!

    1. All things to all people. A bit fat lie. That so many of us are deceived into believing we can achieve!! Yes, we will be exactly who God created us to be!!!

  2. It took several years for me to realize that what I thought people cared about they really didn’t. I wore myself out trying to please everybody and never did please them all. Be yourself. We all love you for who you are!

    1. It is a long road to try and people please. And God has given me glimpses over the past few weeks of how I take things too personal all too often. I want to move away from that. I want to be set apart and walk a different road. One that is slower and less about the hustle.
