HELP / hitting the streets to serve the homeless on Christmas Eve

It’s time for a Christmas week edition of #trashouttuesday!

If your family is anything like our family – you already have too much stuff and you’re wondering where it will all go when you add more stuff to it on Friday???? Right???

We’ve been cleaning out our closets and drawers of the clutter and excess for a while now. We still have a LONG way to go, but we’ve got a start and stacks of items sitting upstairs in the hallway ready to donate.

I wanted to figure out if there is a ministry that could use some of the clothing and household items we’ve collected to give out to the homeless over Christmas. Wouldn’t you know that God showed up and sent me STRAIGHT to the person that already has plans in place to hit the streets on Christmas Eve!!!!

God is SOOO GOOD like that!!

If you live local to the Union County/Charlotte area – here is the info on how YOU can help serve! What better way to celebrate the birth of Jesus than to show His love through serving others??

Ministry: With Love From Jesus

Drop-off Location: Indian Trail, NC (right past First Baptist of Indian Trail on the right hand side if you’re coming from Hwy 74 – 5226 Indian Trail-Fairview Road, Indian Trail NC 28079)

Project Details: Serving the homeless of downtown Charlotte on Christmas Eve. This is the 17th year Joy McGuire has headed up a group that takes needed items from the ministry to downtown Charlotte. They use a local church building to feed them, love on them, minister to them, listen to them, play Gospel music, and pray over them!!! They are expecting over 1,000 people to show up this year!!!

What they need: warm winter clothing, coats, blankets, sweats, hoodies, etc – for women, men and children. They are filling up a tractor trailer full of supplies to take downtown on Christmas Eve. You can drop off donations at With Love From Jesus anytime tomorrow – Wednesday, Dec 23.

If you’re not local: find a way to help in your own community. There are homeless in almost every single community. Find a shelter and ask how you can help. Ask your local church. If no one is doing anything in your church, start a project!! Our church has started doing shoeboxes for the homeless. We use to do the shoeboxes for children around the world, but in recent years decided to serve a little closer to home in our local community. We bring in shoeboxes all year long and have a packing party sometime in November or December.

This year our little church packed over 85 boxes and we’re here now loading them in the car to drop off tomorrow at With Love From Jesus!!

Whatever you do, find a way to serve. It’s what Jesus wants us to do.

And if you’re not local but still want to help out Joy’s ministry – With Love From Jesus, you can find out more about how they serve all year long here:
