God wants us to be content.
This is true:
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be >CONTENT< with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
Anyone else ever struggle with this concept?
Those words – “love of money”
That doesn’t necessarily look like this all of the time:

the daily struggle to get more
climbing the corporate ladder at the expense of anyone
never being satisfied with what God has provided
searching for the next best thing and missing the here and now
acting like a spoiled brat instead of a blessed child of God (umm, that’s me some days)
letting what I don’t have ruin a perfectly good day, week, month, year…lifetime
Paul knew about being content. He tells us in Philippians that He had to learn “the secret of being content”:
12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.
13 I can do everything through him who gives me strength.
That tells me that being content doesn’t come easy. No. It is a secret. Something I must search for. Something I must rely on Him for instead of myself.
Some days I feel and act a lot more like the spoiled brat. I’m not the best example of being content. Yes, I truly know what it is to have plenty. And most of us have never felt the reality of TRULY being in need – no roof over our head, no food to eat, no water to drink. Most of us have had those basic necessities met and we are so very blessed.
God is teaching me on this #1wordwednesday that my job is to be less of a spoiled brat and more about learning to find true contentment in every aspect of my life. I want to learn that secret. I want to be an example that lives out the last part of that verse: I can do everything through him who gives me strength.
