#funfriday / a note to my 8 year old on your birthday

It’s that time of week again: #funfriday is here wooohooooo!!

Background: Two weeks ago it was Kayla’s birthday and my mama heart was hurting so very badly. I didn’t even see my oldest mini-me on her special day since I was in the hospital. Not fun at all!

Earlier last month, we decided not to have Kayla’s birthday party at our house (something we usually do) and booked it at a venue. It just so happened that they didn’t have ANY dates remotely close to her birthday. Bummer. The closest availability they had: two weeks AFTER her birthday. I booked it anyways, being all disappointed and frustrated, but oh well.

Looking back, I’m amazed at how it all worked out! Why should I even be surprised?? Even in the midst of a stressful time, God totally had every detail planned for our little family in His timing.

This was the perfect night and I was actually able to enjoy celebrating the one that made me a mom!

All we’ve heard for a year is that she wanted a Panther’s Party (I have NO CLUE why…we don’t even watch football most days, y’all!!).

So, a Panther’s Party is what we did for today’s #funfriday surprise adventure!

To my dearest Kayla on your 8th birthday (well, 8 years and 2 weeks):

Your heart for helping others makes me proud. Your joy and excitement for life inspires me every single day. Your endless energy wears me out! This week as I pulled into the dance studio parking lot and caught you watching for me in the window to pick you up, something tugged at my heart. In that moment, I realized the HUGE responsibility God has given me and your daddy in bringing you along on this adventure called life. I realized in that moment that I’m the one that has the opportunity to shape you. I’m the one that has the ability to pray for you. I’m the one that God gave you to. I’m the one you call mom. And I’m so blessed for having you. There will never be another you, Kayla. I love you most.
