31 Days of Giveaways / #slowitdownSunday gathering rocks from the yard

We sang a song at church this morning you might remember – it’s an old favorite!

Through my disappointments
Strife and discontentment
I cast my every care upon the Lord
No matter what obsession
Pain or deep depression
I’m standing on the Solid Rock

I’m standing on the Rock of Ages
Safe from every storm that rages
Rich but not from Satan’s wages
I’m standing on the Solid Rock

As I sang those old familiar words – my mind focused on the reality of how true these words are.

Disappointments
Discontentment
Obsession
Depression

Yes – we’ve all been there – the realities of life.

BUT…

I cast my every care upon the Lord
I’m standing on the Solid Rock!

Then, we came home and I asked Brian to help me find some rocks in our yard.

I’m a visual person – how about you?

These rocks remind me of all that God promises to be in my life.
I’m reminded that no matter the storms, no matter the struggles – I have the Solid Rock.

Have you ever seen prayer rocks or rocks that people have written on?
Here is an example from Pinterest:

You can write prayers or whatever on your rocks.
You can have big rocks in the yard by your sidewalk that you pass by every day walking into your home.
You can have small rocks that you place in your pocket or purse.
You can place small rocks on a plate in your home.

I want to be reminded of the Solid Rock in my life.

Psalm 18:2 ESV
The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

  1. I love this idea… Deffinitly something I will do. And I would write, he will take you through the fire again. One of my all time favorites:)

  2. I sing, along with another, praise and worship for our Sunday night gathering. Our pastor and wife practiced that very song with us tonight for our November worship time. This is a God thing!!! Psalm 46:1 is our family’s life verse – God is OUR refuge and strength, ever present in times of trouble. A dear friend shared this verse with us after the children lost everything in their rooms and we lost all of the second floor of our home due to a house fire. That was 13 years ago and it has carried us. After the fire, before we moved back in, we had our driveway paved – along with the children’s hand prints and dates we wrote Psalm 46;1. It is there FOREVER!!!! Just like our ever present help.
