31 Days of Giveaways / #shareitsaturday a pocket prayers book by Max Lucado

Oh friends, we were up in the wee hours of the morning with our little Brock. It seems he and I have been fortunate enough to catch the nasty congestion and cold that’s been making its way through our family this week.

He’s just so pitiful.

As you can imagine, I started worrying late in the night when I heard that too familiar wet cough deep in his chest. Do not ever google “cough and congestion in a 5 week old” at midnight. Just don’t do it.

I was convinced that his cold was easily turning into pneumonia.

After a call into our pediatrician after hours nurse, she assured me he was fine for the night and scheduled us an appointment for him to be checked this morning.

We’re on our way there now.

Here’s where today’s post comes in.

I prayed over my sweet baby last night.

Sometimes, there’s nothing else that we know to do.

And as the rain pounded hard outside all night long, I prayed for the many people that are dealing with unimaginable loss this morning due to flooding in our area. Then, there are the wildfires on the west coast. And the awful events in Oregon this week.

Goodness, we have a lot to pray about.

Last year I read the book Before Amen by Max Lucado.

the daily Starr share it saturday 31 days of giveaways before amen

This was such an easy read and I highly recommend this book if you’re like me and tend to over complicate prayer.

There is truly power in praying simple prayers.

This little devotional book is based on the Before Amen book and shares 40 simple prayers.

Here is an example of one of the “pocket prayers”:

Isn’t that just so simple?

For today’s #shareitsaturday, I have 3 copies of the pocket prayers devotional book that I’d like to give away.

It’s perfect for your purse, to keep in the car or with your Bible.

Simply comment below and list a prayer request for me to remember in praying for you this week.

  3. Praying for my niece she is rehab now for alcohol and over the counter drugs. Divorced, one daughter (just started college this fall ) now my neice has no home, car or job. Her health is not good, they said this is her last chance, stop or die.
Please pray for her daughter, my brother, her siblings and extended family. We all had to do the tough love, one of the hardest things in the world for a parent to say no to their child.
I know God is Great and all things happens for a reason …. and it might take a while for our prayers to be answered. Please pray

  4. I used to couldn’t get my hands on Max’s books fast enough and then, you know, life…I’m getting Before Amen… Soon!!!! Thanks in advance!

  6. Praying for both you and Brock. Please continue to remember my mother we have had a rough week. Also strength for me. The stress of caring for your parent is very great on top of a full time job, family and college.

  7. Praying that we will be able to get a car for my daughter to drive to school and work. I know God will work it out. He will supply all of our needs.

  8. I may be too late but I felt led to say that I need some real prayer guidance. I am stuck and have so much to pray about. You all are on my list and praying you and Brock feel much better soon. Love, in Christ, Gina
