Today’s #makeovermonday is one I’ve been SOOO excited to finally work on!
I picked up my paint brush for the first time this evening since having baby Brock – and y’all – it felt SOOOO good! I’m a dork. I know.
We had an amazing client that gave us this beautiful wooden high chair a year or so ago. They were moving and she didn’t need it any longer and told me to take it with us! And we all know that I didn’t argue one bit 🙂
I’ve had my eye on painting this piece since we got it and initially I wanted to go with white – because I’ve been painting EVERYTHING white.
But, I remembered that I picked up these 2 sample bottles of paint at Target last year and I thought, why not???
I couldn’t decide between the blue or yellow.
So, I polled my family and Brian said absolutely not on the baby diarrhea yellow color.
It’s not actually baby diarrhea yellow. It is Valspar Greek Tapenade #539020 in Satin. And I still think it is pretty.
And Joy agreed that the blue was the winner too. So, that settled that.
The color I used is Valspar Encounter #539017 in Satin. Note: I didn’t even use half of the little sample bottle for the high chair!!! An awesome way to try some new colors for cheap and still have enough for small projects.
I knew 3 minutes into painting that I was gonna LOVE this:
I could have finished in about 45 minutes flat for painting this piece. The paint covered SUPER well and one coat was pretty much taking care of it (remember I don’t sand or anything – I just start painting!!).
When you’re the only one home with the 4 week old that is spoiled from being held all the time….this happens:
Brock was not a fan of my painting. So, my chair time took about double what it would have since I only had one hand to paint with. That was interesting!
Here ya go:
In true Starr fashion and COMPLETE transparency, here is what the back of the chair still looks like:
HA! I had to hurry and get this blog out!! Hopefully I’ll be able to finish the back before someone comes to visit. Oh well 🙂
