1 year ago this week, it was the first official Friday after the start of the new school year for Kayla. I did something totally spontaneous after picking her up from school that afternoon.
It wasn’t much. It was super simple. We stopped at the gas station on the way to pick up Kylie and we were both super thirsty.
There sat a box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts on the gas station counter:
They were the kind for fundraising too!! How can a mom say no to fresh Krispy Kreme doughnuts right there on the counter>??
NOTE: You should know, I typically do refrain from going crazy with sweets with our kiddos. Our parents give us the hardest time, but I like to make sure things like this are really SPECIAL treats and not something our kids expect ALL the time.
You should have seen Kayla’s face light up when she realized we were getting the doughnuts AND actually eating them in the car!!
Then we picked Kylie up and she couldn’t wait to get her own doughnut!
I didn’t mind treating myself too 🙂
And THIS was the beginning of our #funfriday tradition! Poor Brian wasn’t even with us 😦
This week marks 52 weeks of #funfriday with our kiddos and I’m so very glad we stumbled on this simple family tradition.
So, what did we do today for the first Friday of the school year????
You guessed it.
Except, it was Daddy’s turn this time and he treated his girls to a trip INSIDE the real Krispy Kreme store where you sit and smell the doughy goodness!! (no, they’ve never been inside the actual store – deprived children!!)
And look at those adorable hats!
Of course, they both chose chocolate!
Brock and I stayed home and took a nap – oh yes, and it was heavenly!!
Looooook at that bowtie!!! What a cute little man we have!
And if you need a little more Brock photo overload, this was earlier today.
Leaving his first pediatrician visit – he’s doing great:
And sitting with Daddy, thinking about #funfriday:
“Hmmmm, what shall we do???”
“YES, mom – doughnuts sound fabulous!!”
And we ended the evening with the boys taking a nap:
Kayla and Kylie took off to spend the night with grandparents and we’re just here being lazy – and loving every single minute of it! Pizza has been ordered – just because I can actually eat it now…yayyyyy!!
Good night, friends and happy weekend to you!
I can’t encourage you enough to start your own simple family tradition – you’ll be so glad you did 🙂
Encouragement for the Day:
