#thirstythursday / have you felt like a slave to your to-do list (and maybe your cell phone too) lately?

Earlier this week I received a daily devotional from Proverbs 31 Ministries that was titled: “Who’s Setting Your Priorities?”

Immediately I was drawn to the words that the author brought forth. She talked about the demands that are placed on each of us each day to respond and complete our never ending to-do list.

She talked about the modern convenience of our cell phones – but how really they make us wake up already being behind on most days. Isn’t that just soooo true? We wake up to text messages that require responses, emails that need action, social media that wants to take our attention because it is just fun (I’m so guilty!!!).

Remember the days of just having 1 rotary dial phone in your home???? Wow.

If you’ve ever felt like you’ve become a slave to your to-do list or your cell phone – I would highly recommend spending a few moments to read this devotion:

Also, Proverbs 31 Ministries will be starting an Online Bible Study next month for 5 weeks on Glynnis Whitwer’s newest book, Taming the To-Do List: How to Choose Your Best Work Every Day.

It starts September 8, but you can sign up now.

I’ve joined the online study and I’m looking forward to learning how to prioritize more like God wants me to – and maybe let go of the do-it-all-and-just-about-kill-myself-trying kinda girl I’ve been.

On this #thirstythursday I’m asking God for wisdom over these next few days and weeks of transition for our family:

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:5

And I’m so thankful that He is faithful to hear my prayers and to keep His promise of giving me that wisdom freely when I ask.
