I have NO CLUE why I bought this collector item back in the day…
It’s original purpose was to hold CD cases – back when we actually had CD collections. Except, most of my cases were empty because I kept my CDs in a black carrying case that I could keep in my car! Right??!?!?
It has sat in our house in various places for the past 10+ years collecting dust…with no CD cases at all.
I even tried to get rid of this thing at a yard sale once. It didn’t sell. I can’t imagine why.
So, I decided to keep it and use it for something else that we really have a need for with our girls.
But first, it needed paint.
White, of course.
I only did one coat of my white Valspar Exterior Primer. I didn’t worry that some of the black still shows through in places. That gives it more of a distressed look – and people actually pay for that kind of look these days!
This piece did take me about an hour to paint and I ended up using the small brush. I started on one side and painted all of the edges that I could see. Then, I turned it side to side to side and found the edges that still showed white.
It looks MUCH better now.
I surprised the girls after painting this weird piece and let them help me fulfill its new purpose for their room:
They were so excited!! Obviously, we have tons of bows/headbands and I have always kept them in shoeboxes in a cabinet in my room. They don’t get worn half of the time because the girls don’t have access to them and they aren’t very organized. Problem fixed!! Now they can get their bows AND be responsible for putting them up 🙂
And now for the winner of our #shareitsaturday post on keeping your marriage hot:
(I picked 2 because there were so many great entries)
Jessica Morris and Gina Horton!!! Yay!!
I’ll send you both an email with the details. Thanks so much for the comments everyone!
