Last week on #makeovermonday I talked about how I was considering COMPLETELY changing out the baby room….
Here is what it looks like now:
And this is the style I was considering a change to:
From an overwhelming response, I have concluded that I do in fact love our baby room and I’m not sure that I want to change it ALL right now.
I’m thinking about trying a few tweaks to the current room as a start and see how it goes!!
Here’s a REALLY bad photoshop markup (before and after) of what I’m planning to change:
#1 – Paint the furniture white (from black).
#2 – Paint the dark brown stripes on the walls a light grey.
#3 – Change out the dark brown curtains to white curtains.
I think these three things will TOTALLY change the room to feel more light and airy, which is what I really crave. It feels too dark in there now. But, I do love the colors and I really want to avoid having to recover that rocking chair and get new bedding.
That’s the plan and I have only about 8-10 weeks to get it completed! I’ll try to tackle a piece per week and feature here on the blog as we go as a mini-nursery makeover series 🙂
As an added bonus for today’s blog, I’d thought I’d share a few of my current favorite paint colors in my home. People ask me all the time what colors I would use and I am constantly giving out these as my go to colors:
Benjamin Moore Shenandoah Taupe – This is the color you will find all throughout my home. I saw this very bathroom advertisement in a magazine before we moved into our current home and we bought 5 gallon buckets and covered the walls before we even moved in! I LOVE it! This is the color I will use to paint over the dark brown in the baby’s room.
Sherwin Williams Comfort Gray – This is the color that I have in my kitchen. It looks pretty green here, but sometimes looks more blue depending on the light. I love it! I covered the previous red walls we had. (BTW – I don’t have any photos of my kitchen yet, I should work on that!!).
Sherwin Williams Oyster Bay – Yes, this color looks identical to the one above, but they are a shade or so apart. This one is what I used in our front office/dining room. Here it is below.
Are you nervous about painting and changing your look completely?
Don’t be! It is such an easy way to make your home feel like a new place 🙂
