#slowitdownSunday / to YOU – wherever you are tonight

I’ve struggled with what to write today.

Yes, it is Mother’s Day. And everyone has had a mom that gave birth to you – at least I think you do, right?

I can’t seem to come up with the exact words.
I know there is such joy in a mother. I know that there is joy in being a mother.

I also know that there is pain that comes with a day like today. My heart can’t seem to ignore that pain tonight.

Mother is no longer here.
Mother is something that some long to be more than anything.

There simply are no words. No one can understand your story like you can. No one can take away that pain, no one can give the joy. All I know is this: Our hope is found – in Christ alone.

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly trust in Jesus name

Christ alone; cornerstone
Weak made strong; in the Savior’s love
Through the storm, He is Lord
Lord of all

So as this day comes to an end, as sure as the sun will rise again in the morning – know that you are loved. Your tears of happiness and your tears of sorrow do not go unnoticed. I know a God that can show up wherever you are and wrap His loving arms around you.

Tonight, I pray that you will rest in knowing that He is there.

I’m super thankful for a mom that taught me compassion, humility and strength – through it all. Thank you, Mom. I truly love you for being exactly who God made you to be. And especially that He made me yours.

  1. Love you so much! You mean the world to me! My mom was so tickled with her first grand child! This was her first visit with you, I believe you were just a couple of weeks old. I made her wait to come so that I could have some time with you to myself.
