#thirstythursday / stop trying to do it all [FOCUS]

#thirstythursday on The Daily Starr is a time when we get into the Word of God. Jesus told the Samaritan woman at the well in John chapter 4 she could have living water and never thirst again. I want that living water too! How about you?

Staying focused. That would be great, wouldn’t it?

These words from the Apostle Paul in Philippians 3 have really stuck out to me this week.

Our Sunday School class started a new study on The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren and I absolutely love this excerpt from day 3:

thirsty thursday the daily Starr purpose driven life

Focus!

Stop dabbling.

STOP TRYING TO DO IT ALL!!! Helloooo!!!!

Prune away even good activities and do only that which matters most.

Never confuse activity with productivity.

These words from the author were exactly what I needed to hear. A week where I let too much take place. So much STUFF that there’s no way under heaven I could focus.

It was mostly chaos in our home this week.

I’m the only one that can make the hard decisions to say “NO” to those activities that crowd our schedule and turn me into Cruella de Vil.

I don’t like being Cruella. How about you?

Yes, we can be busy without a purpose, but what’s the point?

Let’s find exactly what God has for us instead!

Proverb of the Day:
Apply your heart to instruction and your ears to words of knowledge. [Proverbs 23:12 NIV]

  1. It’s so easy to say yes to so many things and then you are so tired the joy is gone. The problem is that in many situations, you’re the only one who noticed that you put forth all that extra effort to try and be everything to everyone. Sit back, relax and enjoy your family. Life is too short!
