This is what our bed looks like at the end of most days:
Walmart bags, frozen towels, dirty clothes at the foot of the bed. Fancy, huh?
We actually switched out our bed last year – this bed was our very first bed that we got in our first home. It’s a queen that we outgrew pretty quickly and has been in the guest room for years.
Well, I got a crazy idea to sell the king bed and that we did!
We moved the original queen back into our room and I haven’t done much with the decor since then.
I found this cute burlap Mr. & Mrs. pennant banner at Kirkland’s on clearance for only $6.99 right before Christmas!
Tonight we finally decided to take back our master bed for this edition of #makeovermonday!
5 Tips for making over your own bed:
#1 Go for a neutral comforter. You can change up your look more often and it is easier to clean. We got our down comforter at Sam’s Club for around $50.
#2 Use sheer material to make it more romantic. These plain ivory sheers are from the local fabric salvage shop and we found them for super cheap. Actually, we bought them for decor at our wedding reception 12 years ago and we still use them today. They aren’t hemmed or anything, but they totally work!
#3 Find fun pillows to layer and mix. Don’t feel you have to use the pillows that come with a comforter set. We mix ours up all throughout the house to create a less uniform look.
#4 Get comfy throw blankets to keep around – they just make you want to crawl up and cuddle! My favorite place to find throw blankets is IKEA – you can always find one for less than $20. The more neutral, the better. You can use them throughout your house.
#5 Use unique artwork and decor to make it more cozy. In fact, want to win your own Mr. & Mrs. banner? I’m giving one away!!
To win your own Mr. & Mrs. banner, just comment below and tell me what color your bedroom comforter is!
Kayla will draw a random winner and we’ll announce it tomorrow on #trashouttuesday.
That’s a wrap for this master bed #makeovermonday!
Proverb of the Day:
Don’t wear yourself out trying to get rich. Be wise enough to know when to quit. In the blink of an eye wealth disappears, for it will sprout wings and fly away like an eagle. [Proverbs 23:4-5 NLT]
