#trashouttuesday / the REVERSE Lent challenge – let’s do it together!

Lent officially begins tomorrow – Wednesday, Feb 18.

Last week I shared that our family is observing Lent for the very first time by doing something a little different. Going right along with our #trashouttuesday theme of having TOO MUCH STUFF, our Lent challenge is simple:

Each family member will collect an item a day to give away from the excess in our home.

I was absolutely excited today as I came across an author that shared how she is doing a REVERSE Lent Challenge: Don’t Give Something Up – Take Something On!

Karen Ehman’s challenge is simple. For the past two years, instead of giving something up – like chocolate or soft drinks – she decided to take something on to encourage others. She gathered 40 note cards and spent a few minutes each day during Lent to hand write a note to someone as encouragement. How awesome is that?

Won’t you join us tomorrow and start your own challenge? It can be simple. Find whatever works for you! Maybe even make it a goal to do one random act of kindness each day for the next 40 days.

If you would like more ideas, read the comments at the bottom of Karen’s blog post to see what other people are doing as they join the challenge tomorrow.

I’d love to know if you’re joining us so that I can encourage YOU along the way. Leave a comment below saying, “I’m IN!”

NOW: We have a giveaway from yesterday’s #makeovermonday post!

Kylie drew the winner tonight, and here it is….
