We’ve been at our annual training conference for work and I’ve heard story after story this week. There has been one resounding theme from the stories that have captured my attention the most: being a servant to others.
There’s the pro football player that decided to leave his $35M contract with the NFL and start a farm called First Fruits that focuses on providing food for the hungry – food to the tune of 100,000 pounds of sweet potatoes this past year in his very first harvest! Wow! Servant.
Then there is the story of the little girl that started going legally blind at the age of 8. Instead of being a victim of her circumstances, she started collecting shoes for homeless people. Her first year, she collected 300+ pairs. She’s 13 now and has lost all but 8% of her vision – which doctors say she will lose completely within the next 2-5 years. She’s now collected 12,000+ pairs of shoes for the homeless – and she has a list of things she wants to do before she goes blind. Servant.
What am I waiting on? What is my contribution to serving others?
My #1wordwednesday for this week is about all being a SERVANT.
God, help me to find opportunities every single day to impact those around me and show Your love. Help me to be inspired daily by those around me that have figured out living like this and help me to inspire others around me to do the same. Help me to be a giver, not a taker.
How about you? What’s on your mind? What’s your word for #1wordwednesday this week?
Proverb of the Day:
The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed. [Proverbs 11:25 NLT]
