We’re almost half way through the month and I’m still on this no retail shopping thing for the entire month of January.
Honestly, I didn’t realize how many times I’ve been in the habit of just picking up something here or there at the store. Until there’s stuff I really WANT to get – and then I remember that I’m not supposed to go shopping…
I’ve even been dreaming of getting creative and justifying my purchases, “Oh that would be for my blog or for someone else, so I could totally go buy it, right??”
And I haven’t cracked. Yet.
I’m still in need of markers to go with Gina’s Dry Erase Board (Sorrrrry, Gina!!). And then there’s this new mascara that I want to try. Hold that order til Feb 1st, please? Add on a few crafty items that I would LOVE to go out and purchase to finish up some projects around the house before my family visits this weekend.
Oh well, I’m learning to make do by using what I have around the house. And I certainly have ENOUGH to go around the house for us all.
When I get past the temptation to go out and buy, I realize that the need wasn’t really a need at all. It was a want. And then I realize that maybe I’m learning unexpected life lessons about discipline in this crazy little shopping experiment.
There’s so many that do without all over this world every single day. And here I am throwing myself a pity party because of one month of depriving myself. First world problems, right?
In sticking with our #trashouttuesday theme, I have some stuff I need to get rid of!
Who would like a color-your-own-castle? We’ve had this one taking up space for 2 years now – and we’ve never even colored it haha. It’s yours, free. I would love if you could come get it before the weekend 🙂 Otherwise, it will go up on the free stuff facebook page by end of day Wednesday.
And the lamp winner from yesterday’s #makeovermonday post is:
Congrats and thanks to all that submitted an entry this week. Look for more giveaways coming your way each Monday.

Lazy people want much but get little, but those who work hard will prosper. [Proverbs 13:4 NLT]
