Most days, this is what one would find when walking through our front door:
We LIVE here. Can I get an AMEN?
I am a clutter bug and maybe slightly just a tad borderline hoarder. I get it from my dad (remember, he doesn’t read my blog….haha).
I could stress over the mess. But, I would stay stressed. And that wouldn’t be fun at all.
Then comes the one thing that motivates me MOST to get our house in shape and at least hide as much clutter as possible: COMPANY!!!
Yay!! Our family from Tennessee will be venturing over the mountains this week to celebrate our annual family Christmas on MLK weekend. We alternate locations – one year here, one year there. And it’s our turn to host! I couldn’t be more excited.
ANNNNND this week, we clean.
I thought it would be best to start with walking in the door and then work my way up to the bedrooms.
Earlier in 2014 we decided to transform our formal living area into the office space. My dream is to one day work from here and write books 🙂
The space has been coming together bit by bit and really served its purpose this past season to make ornaments with friends, write out Christmas cards, package Christmas presents and more. I’m not the type to clean as I go ((SHOCKER))! So as you can imagine, the space is currently a bit of a mess.
Not really what I want to have greeting the family, huh?
I spent about an hour tonight cleaning and sorting (and yes, cramming things into drawers that I’ll find in 2020).
One project that I’ve been super excited about are these cute IKEA storage containers. They really pop on the dark furniture. Beware, they require assembly. Right, Brian?
[Don’t look too closely, I didn’t dust :)]
One of my goals for 2015 is to intentionally encourage those around me more. I love note cards and writing them, but they always seem to be packed away in a drawer or cabinet. This year, I decided to make them more readily available and on the desk so that I can grab and go! I found these cute cards in the Target $1 section:
The space beside my desk has been really bare and boring. I always take advantage of my sister and her friends that come over to hang out! Joy and Jenna helped me grab things from around the house and create our first ever gallery wall:
Here’s the finished view of our #makeovermonday front office room:
Before you think it’s all perfect and stuff, this is what the dining room still looks like:
And PS – Christmas is still going strong around here, for anyone that was wondering 🙂
Now – before we go, who wants a GIVEAWAY??
I found this beautiful lamp and shade at Goodwill a few weeks ago for only $8!
Since I have too many lamps already and everybody likes a giveaway, who wants to win the lamp??
To enter: comment below and tell me where you would put the lamp in your house – OR tell me a friend that you want to give it to and why!
A winner will be selected on Tuesday and announced in the #trashouttuesday post.
Let’s give away a lamp, yay!
