As we wrap up the Christmas season and 2014, I’m reminded yet again at how much STUFF we have collected as a family. We’ve started giving away things we don’t use and don’t need, but we still have a long way to go. Yes, #trashouttuesday will continue for us it seems…
I have a vision and dream for our family to be different and try new things. I don’t want to just do what’s always been done. Let’s live out an adventure!
A few weeks ago, I stood in our local Goodwill store and a thought hit me: “What if our family only shopped second hand stores for a period of time?”
After texting Brian my crazy idea, he agreed that we could totally do it!
And in being COMPLETELY real and transparent with you all, it actually started a little something like this:
“What if we went an entire year of only shopping second hand??”
That lasted a couple of days before I thought maybe I should perhaps start smaller and then grow….
Then, it turned into:
“What if we went 100 days of only shopping second hand??”
And then we got prego. Hold up here.
And then I went shopping for shoes tonight.
This could be a problem.
And here’s where we’ve officially landed:
Starting Jan 1, our family will begin 31 Days of only shopping second hand stores!
No Target. No shoe stores. No dollar store.
No online stuff either..ghhhaaaaa!!
Well – we won’t buy our food or toilet paper second hand…that’s just gross!
I’ll update you each Tuesday in January to let you know how it’s going. Who knows? Maybe we’ll continue past the 31 days 🙂 And you can totally feel free to join along in this adventure with us!
Here’s a couple of the fabulous finds from my Goodwill trip that had me excited to try this out:
This lamp was only $8!
And this lovely teal chair was only $5:
The chair is something I’m super excited about because it will be part of a new twist on #makeovermonday starting in 2015 – y’all are gonna flip at what’s coming next week…woooohooooo!
Ok. Wish us luck. And we accept all prayers that you want to send our way.
And don’t ask me to go shopping. Just. Don’t. Do. It.
Proverb of the Day:
Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection. [Proverbs 30:5 NLT]
