#thirstythursday / me and my big mouth

#thirstythursday is here and I’ve been complaining a bit too much this week, how about you?

Here’s a pretty amazing daily challenge:

daily challenge don't complain the daily starr

This is part of the book “Me and My Big Mouth” by Joyce Meyer.

I love how she goes on to say that not complaining doesn’t mean we live with our heads in the clouds and pretend that nothing negative exists. “It simply means that we make it our goal in life to be as positive as possible.”

“Don’t complain when complaining does no good.”

[Joyce Meyer – Me and My Big Mouth pg 97]

I’ve done several things over the past few years to help me remember not to complain – like wearing a purple stretchy bracelet on my arm and moving it to the other wrist every time I complain. Believe me, you will find yourself switching that bracelet ALL DAY LONG!!

This week, Brian keeps reminding me of this:

Those were the words and advice from Anne Frank in the book The Traveler’s Gift that we read last week. Every time I start harping on something or someone else, he just looks at me with that smile and I say, “I know, I know – TODAY I CHOOSE TO BE HAPPY!”

Perspective changes everything.

Me and my big mouth are going to practice those instructions from Philippians: don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything! And God, please help me not to be stuck up and fall flat on my face (see Proverb of the day below haha)!

Proverb of the Day:
The stuck-up fall flat on their faces, but down-to-earth people stand firm. [Proverbs 11:2]
