Does your tshirt drawer overflow? Mine does.
(Don’t judge the 1980s Caboodle. You know you had one, right?)
Time to gather all those old tshirts and put them to good use!
I have two friends that traveled with us on a mission trip to Brazil earlier this year.
Meet Sharon and Camella.
These two ladies had a FABULOUS idea to use old tshirts and create bags to distribute on our trip. Their creativity and passion went unsurpassed as they gathered tshirts from all around, their church, their friends and they went to work!
Not only did they create bags to take with us, they brought the materials to teach the women of the village how to make them – giving them another resource to use. How cool is that??
The ladies absolutely loved it! We couldn’t speak their language, but I cannot begin to tell you how incredibly crafty they were. I laughed because we went to teach them and I’m pretty sure they ended up showing us how it’s really done hahahah~
It doesn’t matter what your shirt looks like, if it’s old and stained – they’ll take it!
They get to work and do some tie dye on some of the shirts – others are plain!!
Then, they turn them inside out, cut and do the simple part on the sewing machine that I don’t know how to do…
And there you have it: the g.G. bag – recycling for Jesus! You can learn more about them here.
Sharon and Camella didn’t stop after our trip. They continued taking the shirts and have been busy at local festivals sharing their passion, selling the bags and sending the proceeds to benefit missions.
Now – who has some old tshirts you want to give me? I’ll take whatever you send. Doesn’t matter the size, the style, the color. I promise they will be used to impact the Kingdom in a truly special and unique way!
And there you have it, send me your #trashouttuesday tshirts, friends!
Proverb of the Day:
So don’t bother correcting mockers; they will only hate you. But correct the wise, and they will love you. [Proverbs 9:8 NLT]
