#funfriday is here yeeehaaawwww!
We stayed home today with 1 objective: get the tree ready!
The girls have been in their pj’s ALL DAY LONG and daddy just took them for a ride to the church to get. them. out. Can I get an AMEN?
I cannot tell you how much I love real Christmas trees!
Here’s the top 5 reasons why YOU should have a real Christmas tree!
You can go to an actual Christmas Tree farm. If you live near Charlotte, there’s one only 1.5 hours away on the other side of Lincolnton called Helms Christmas Tree Farm. There’s just something about walking around the farm looking for the “perfect” tree. BONUS: this year we found out there is a back lot “Clearance” section – all trees $30!! It doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful!!
THE SMELL. Walking into your house and smelling the fresh pine or cedar…WOW!
You too can be like Clark Griswold! I’m just gonna warn you, this very well may happen after getting the tree up and stringing the lights:
Teach your kids patience. By giving them jobs as helpers of the annual light stringing, of course! Note: My husband is a genius and each year he takes one set at a time and puts them into individual wal-mart plastic bags before putting them back into the bin! This keeps them from tangling up. Also, we bought lights 11 years ago for our wedding and haven’t bought a set since – these things last, y’all!
Because putting lights onto a tree 2 TIMES is DOUBLE THE FUN! Yes, you heard that right. 2 times. We bought a huge tree. For $30. From the discount lot. It isn’t super straight. The tree fell over. I put most of the lights on 1 side…and it crashed. Here’s the Christmas Tree Time Lapse of 2014:
And there ya have it, friends! I STILL believe you too should have the joy of a real Christmas tree 🙂 Wishing you a #funfriday while I go put on some ornaments and PRAY this thing doesn’t fall over again!
Proverb of the Day:
In the end, people appreciate honest criticism far more than flattery. [Proverbs 28:23 NLT]
