My husband has learned my love language…
“Dear, someone just sent an email in the neighborhood that there’s a free cabinet on the side of the road in front of their house. I’m on it – headed there right now!!”
I just love him.
Old furniture. Yes.
#makeovermonday. Here. We. Go.
The before of the old FREE tv cabinet left for pick up in our neighborhood…
After a few coats of my trusty exterior primer white paint (noooo sanding…because, well – I just don’t have patience for that), bead board backing from Lowe’s nailed onto the back, and one crazy night of moving it upstairs AND getting stuck in the turn of our stairs and having to call mom to help (YES, that really happened), here’s the after:
We turned it into a dress up wardrobe for our little girls’ bedroom!
The hubby got one piece of bead board from Lowe’s and cut it to fit the back, painted it bright yellow and nailed it to the back.
I added a $5 shower curtain rod to hang the dresses. This is less permanent and can move around when needed – or be taken out in a moment when the girls outgrow their dress up clothes.
The original paintings on top are from a family trip this past January to Painting with a Twist. Mom and I each painted owls so that the girls could both have one for their rooms. Mine has the weird eyes, obviously. They didn’t give us the “good brushes” until the end of the night when someone asked. Note to self: ask for the good brushes WHEN YOU FIRST START PAINTING. Otherwise, you too will end up with owls with weird eyes.
Here’s our fun group displaying all of our beautiful (with weird eyes because we had the bad brushes) owls!
Now, time for me to go pick up the mess I made in the girls’ room moving all of their stuff to one side so you could see this photo. Don’t you dare be thinking it looks like this all of the time. IT. DOES. NOT 🙂
Other side of the room…
Feel better now? Me too! 🙂
