Have you ever been through a change in seasons?
Like the fall leaves and colorful landscapes, change can be magnificent and beautiful. You know, like those amazing trees that drop a blanket of bright yellow and orange leaves that you could just go lay down in…yeah, those!
But sometimes change comes with bittersweet edges. Change can be tough and downright frightening.
I have been through those seasons of change during my life and they are never fun. No one signs up for seasons where you don’t know what’s next, where it seems like you’re drowning in things that are going all wrong. What end is up? What end is down? Can I just lay here and cover up my head with this blanket and make it all go away? Am I the only one that experiences this??
I have a friend named Genia that everyone should meet. Her life screams happiness and joy. I don’t get to see her very often, but I LOVE keeping up with her on Facebook. Here’s what she posted the other night about a change in seasons:
Just passing through….seasons will change….my God will remain the same…do not take these seasons for granted….He lovingly allows circumstances to come our way to help us become what He has designed us to be, and where we are to be placed! YES, YES, YES!
Genia – I want to shout from the mountaintops your words of encouragement!
Today as I reflect on seasons of change in my life and yours, I’m holding true to His Word in Psalm 145: 14-16:
The Lord helps the fallen and lifts up those bent beneath their loads. All eyes look to you for help; you give them their food as they need it. When you open your hand, you satisfy the hunger and thirst of every living thing.
God, help me to look to You and You alone for my help. When I’m feeling bent beneath my load, You are all I need! You fill me when I’m empty – there is nothing else – you’re all I need! Satisfy my hunger for acceptance, my thirst for dreams and goals. I know that you have shown me this: when I focus completely on YOU, all of these things will come. I want YOU more than the blessings that You give. When I have YOU, my thoughts, emotions, desires – they all shift from my worldly perspective. YOU. More of YOU.
#thirstythursday is a time on The Daily Starr where we dive into Scripture and see what God has to say. Jesus told the woman at the well that He could offer living water – and that she would never thirst again. Are you thirsty?
